The Shillong Chamber Choir, who won the second season of India’s Got Talent, have a new achievement unlocked. When the soft landing of Chandrayaan 2 will be taking on September 7, between 1:30 am and 2:30 am, the 15 member team of the Shillong Chamber Choir will sing a rendition of Vande Mataram.

In an announcement on Twitter, the group said, “What an honour to be having our ‘Vande Mataram’ (composed by Neil Nongkynrih) play as the #Chandrayaan2Live attempts a historical moon landing tomorrow, the 6th. Watch it LIVE on @NatGeoIndia @hotstartweets @StarPlus #IndiaMakesHistory #NatGeoIndia #hotstar #Starplus.”

Musician Neil Nongkynrih, told The Shillong Times, said, “The Choir and I are very proud to be singing for such a significant event in world history. We also see this as a new chapter in the history of North East, a hitherto lesser known region.”

On July 22, the Rs 978 crore Chandrayaan-2 was launched into space by India’s heavy lift rocket Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-Mark III (GSLV Mk III).

The spacecraft comprises three segments – the Orbiter (weighing 2,379 kg, eight payloads), the lander ‘Vikram’ (1,471 kg, four payloads) and rover ‘Pragyan’ (27 kg, two payloads).
