Chhattisgarh: Suspecting wife of having affair, man flees quarantine to spy; cuts off her hand

In a shocking turn of events, a returning migrant worker, who suspected his wife of having an affair, escaped from COVID quarantine in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district and severed her right hand on seeing her talking to someone on the phone.

While the woman was laid down in the pool of blood, he led accusations at her, and fled, leaving her bleeding and their two-year-old son wailing.

The accused, 25-year-old Lalit Korwa, has been arrested. His wife, Piyar Bai, was taken to hospital but it was too late to reattach her hand. According to police, he began suspecting his wife because every time he called her from the quarantine centre, her phone was busy.

As per reports, on Wednesday night, he called her again and got a busy tone on her phone. The furious husband jumped from the terrace of the quarantine centre and ran all the way home to see what she was doing.

He found Piyar Bai talking to someone. He picked up an axe and severed the hand holding the phone, said investigation officer H R Bhagat of Bagicha police station.
