A horrifying case of human sacrifice has come to light from Uttar Pradesh where a family allegedly killed a 15-year-old boy following the advice of an occultist in a bid to get their children cured of mental illness. Three persons of the family have been arrested in the matter while further investigation is underway.
As reported by Hindustan Times, “a family of Tharupur village approached an occultist to get their children cured of mental illness around a month ago. He gave them a choice between animal and human sacrifice. The family chose to sacrifice Divakar Yadav, a boy of the same village, as they could not arrange a pair of oxen.”
While investigating the case, officials informed that at least three children of family reportedly have mental illness.

The report further informed that the sacrificed boy was draped in a red saree with vermillion applied on his forehand. He was also wearing bangles. Prima facie the boy was strangled, then his body dressed as a woman before being hung from a tree in the forest.
Upon interrogating the villagers and neighbours, many confirmed that the accused occultist, identified as Ramabhikash, is a distant relative of the family and used to visit them before the victim Divakar Yadav was abducted and killed.

As of now, three suspects – Ramgopal, his mother Siyawati and their relative Ramshankar, who is afflicted with polio — have been arrested and charged with murder under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, while the occultist remains absconding.
