Coronavirus: Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren and his wife tests Covid-19 negative

Soren self-isolated himself after his Cabinet colleague Mithlesh Thakur and party MLA Mathura Mahto with whom he came in contact with tested positive on Tuesday.

Coronavirus: Jharkhand CM Soren and his wife tests negative

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana Soren has tested negative for COVID-19 on Saturday. He along with her wife, underwent the coronavirus test on Saturday.

Soren self-isolated himself after his Cabinet colleague Mithlesh Thakur and party MLA Mathura Mahto with whom he came in contact with tested positive on Tuesday.

A team of three doctors led by civil surgeon VB Prasad reached CM accommodation and took a swab sample of the entire family including CM and his wife Kalpana Soren.

Prasad said, “As per the directions from higher officials, swab samples of at least 23 persons in the official residence of the Chief Minister were taken on Saturday”.

At the same time, several CMO officers and personnel were also taken for sample testing.

For the uninitiated, along with MLA Mathura Mahto, former MLA Kushwaha Shivpujan Mehta and daughter of Minister Mithlesh Thakur had been found positive for the coronavirus. Besides, 23 journalists and 1 policeman have been reported positive from PMCH Dhanbad. The MLA is said to have come in contact with CM Hemant Soren two days ago. It is noteworthy that more than 100 corona positive patients have been found in the state continuously for the last 3 days. 156 corona positive patients were found on Friday.

Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, 156 new COVID-19 cases patients have been reported in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of corona-infected patients in the state has increased to 3,518. So far, 2,224 patients have been recovered from the infection. The death toll stands at 23. There are currently 1,271 active cases in the state.

The COVID-19 tally in India has increased to 8,20,916. The country witnessed a spike of 27,114 in 24 hours which is the highest in India on record. The total recovery now stands at 62.7%. A total of 19,873 new patients have been recovered in the last 24 hours. The death tally has also increased to 22,123.
