Coronavirus cases in India live updates: The number of coronavirus cases in India has taken a spike and has reached to 33,610 according to the ministry of health, while the number of fatalities rose to 1,075. Meanwhile, more than 3.13 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally.

Centre divided districts in the country into ‘red’, ‘orange’ and ‘green’ zones as per the doubling rate and number of cases. At least 130 districts are in the red zone, 284 in orange and 319 in green. Metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai and Ahmedabad are in the red zone. The government said it could be possible to relax restrictions in red and orange zones.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in India rose to 33,050 on Thursday. The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients also climbed to 25.19 percent with as many as 8,324 recoveries to date. At the same time, the fatality rate currently stands at 3.2 percent, however, the same is 51 percent among patients above 60 years of age. A total of 1,744 new cases and 630 fresh recoveries have been reported from across the country in the last 24 hours.

Govt makes masks mandatory; spitting in public prohibited; alcohol shops can reopen

National guidelines for Covid-19 management, as issued by the MHA:

  • Wearing of face cover is compulsory in all public places
  • All persons in charge of public places and transport shall ensure social distancing as per the guidelines issued by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
  • No organization/ manager of public place shall allow gathering of 5 or more persons
  • Marriages related gatherings shall ensure social distancing, and the maximum number of guests allowed shall not be more than 50
  • Funeral/ last rites related gatherings shall ensure social distancing, and the maximum numbers allowed shall not be more than 20
  • Spitting in public places shall be punishable with fine, as may be prescribed by the State/ UT local authority
  • Consumption of liquor, paan, gutka, tobacco etc. in public places is not allowed
  • Shops selling liquor, paan, gutka, tobacco etc. will ensure minimum six feet distance (2 gaz ki doori) from each other, and also ensure that not more than 5 persons are present at one time at the shop

What is allowed in Green Zone?

All activities are permitted in green zones except the following:

  • Travel by air, rail, metro and inter-State movement by road
  • Running of schools, colleges, and other educational and training/ coaching institutions
  • Hospitality services, including hotels and restaurants
  • Places of large public gatherings, such as cinema halls, malls, gymnasiums, sports complexes etc
  • Social, political, cultural and other kinds of gatherings
  • Religious places/ places of worship for public

However buses can operate with upto 50 per cent seating capacity and bus depots can operate with upto 50 per cent capacity.

What is allowed in Orange Zone?

The government has allowed all activities permitted in red zones (listed in the subsequent update) in Orange Zones, and the following activities:

  • Taxis and cab aggregators will be permitted with 1 driver and 1 passenger only
  • Inter-district movement of individuals and vehicles will be allowed for permitted activities only
  • Four wheeler vehicles will have maximum two passengers besides the driver and pillion riding will be allowed on two-wheelers

What is allowed in Red Zone?

Here is what is allowed in red zones amid lockdown:

  • The movement of individuals and vehicles is allowed only for permitted activities, with a maximum of 2 persons (besides the driver) in four-wheeler vehicles, and with no pillion rider in the case of two-wheelers
  • Industrial establishments in urban areas with staggered shifts and social distancing. This includes manufacturing units of essential goods, including drugs, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, their raw material and intermediates; production units, which require continuous process, and their supply chain; manufacturing of IT hardware; jute industry
  • Construction activities in urban areas have been limited to in-situ construction (where workers are available on site and no workers are required to be brought in from outside) and construction of renewable energy projects.
  • All standalone (single) shops, neighborhood (colony) shops and shops in residential complexes are permitted to remain open in urban areas, without any distinction of essential and non-essential 
  • E-Commerce activities, in the Red Zones, are permitted only in respect of essential goods
  • Private offices can operate with upto 33% strength as per requirement, with the remaining persons working from home
  • All Government offices shall function with senior officers of the level of Deputy Secretary and above at full strength, and the remaining staff attending upto 33% as per requirement
  • Agricultural, animal husbandry, plantation activities
  • Financial sector, including banks, non-banking finance companies (NBFCs), insurance and capital market activities, and credit co-operative societies
  • Commerical, private establishments
  • Public utilities
  • Operation of homes for children, senior citizens, destitutes, women and widows etc
  • Operation of Anganwadis

These activities are not allowed in Red Zones:

What are not allowed in Red Zones

In the Red Zones, outside the Containment Zones, certain activities are prohibited in addition to those prohibited throughout the country. These are:

  • Barber shops, spas and saloons.

The government has ordered 2.2 crore personal protective equipment (PPE) kits, of which 1.42 will be procured through domestic manufacturers, and 1.87 from abroad. The demand for PPE kits has been projected at 2.01 crore in India, PD Vaghela says during the Health Ministry briefing.

Migrant workers likely to board train from Kerala to Bhubaneswar today

Another train is expected to leave from Aluva in Kerala to Bhubaneswar in Odisha today while some are expected to leave from Kozhikode and Trivandrum tomorrow. Three more Covid-19 deaths in Rajasthan on Friday

Covid-19 in Rajasthan: Rajasthan recorded three more coronavirus deaths on Friday, while 33 fresh cases of the virus were reported, an official said.
