Coronavirus outbreak in Delhi: Markets to remain shut for three days from Saturday in national capital

The action has been taken to prevent community transmission of coronavirus. The markets in Delhi will remain closed on March 21,22 and 23.

As the threat of novel coronavirus is growing day by day. The World Health Organization has declared it as a pandemic and the nation is going to have a Janta Curfew on Sunday as announced by PM Narendra Modi. The trade dealers of different parts of Delhi have decided to shut their business establishments for the next three days beginning Saturday.

The action has been taken to prevent community transmission of coronavirus. The markets in Delhi will remain closed on March 21,22 and 23. The trade leaders say they will review the situation on the evening of March 23 and then decide the future course of action.

“The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has exempted Chemist Shops, dairy and general consumables from the shut down to prevent the convenience to the citizens,” said Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary-General, CAIT.

The traders say they are committed to extending all possible help to the government in the fight against coronavirus threat.

The CAIT reportedly represents around seven crore small and medium traders across India.

The government of Delhi has also said that all shops in the shopping malls will shut down till March 31 except the shops that will deal with the items of groceries, pharmacy, vegetables.
