In a shocking incident, a cricketer suffered a heart attack and died while playing cricket in the Pune district of Maharashtra. The incident is of Junnar Taluka tehsil in Pune.

The 47-year-old identified as Babu Nalwade collapsed on the ground while standing at the non-striker’s end. The video of the incident has resurfaced and since then has gone viral.

“He was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead,” said an official from Narayangaon police station.

The deceased player even had a quick chat with the match umpire and his batting partner before he suddenly fainted and breathed his last on the cricket field.

The cricket match was being played between local cricketing unions namely Ojhar Sangh and Jaamboot Sangh.

Incidents of heart attack and death on the cricket field are not new to the cricketing world.  Richard Beaumont of England in 2012 suffered a heart attack on the ground and died in the hospital. He was 33 at the time. Indian cricketer Raman Lamba and Australian cricketer Philip Hughes were also victims of mishaps on the field.
