Delhi: Businessman arrested after his unlicensed pistol accidentally sets off at Starbucks

The accused was booked under the Arms Act of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for endangering the safety of others

Panic occurred at Starbucks after a businessman’s pistol allegedly went off inside the outlet on Thursday. The accused was arrested following the incident.

Though no one was hurt in the incident as the outlet was not much occupied. Allegedly, the pistol license expired months ago and it was .32 bore. The man has tucked the pistol in his pants and covered it with the shirt.

The accused is a resident from Tagore Park, Model Town and runs a steel wires factory. He has visited the outlet with some friends and as per a police officer, the man’s pistol was uncovered.

The Incident took place around 1 pm when the accused and his friends were leaving the cafe. When the accused got up, the pistol hit the hand support of the chair on which he was sitting. The bullet was fired before the pistol hit the ground. The bullet hit the leg of their table.

Followed by the incident, the manager of the cafe called the police. The accused was not allowed to leave the cafe until the police reached there. The police got an empty shell and five live bullets from the accused.

The accused was booked under the Arms Act of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for endangering the safety of others. The license of the gun was expired on October 26 last year.
