New Delhi: The homes and livelihoods of 40 Muslim residents of New Delhi’s Ashok Nagar were vandalised on the horrendous day hours of February 25, Tuesday. The Muslim residents found brotherhood and a little light of hope from the Hindu neighbourhood who opened their houses for the Muslim families amid the smouldering ruins.

The mob burnt down their homes and shops on Tuesday. Around 1,000 entered the colony near Badi masjid in the mid hour of the day. They barged the mosque where at least 20 people were offering prayers.

Khursheed Alam, a Muslim resident, who was standing in front of the remains of his house said he was at the mosque when suddenly a huge group of people entered and started shouting slogans and thus they ran to save their lives.

The other resident, Mohammad Tayub said that the mob vandalized the mosque and set it ablaze and hoisted the tricolour and a saffron flag.

The Hindu neighbour, Pintu said that they will stand by them no matter what and they are also Hindu but can not think to harm them or their property. He further added to it that the houses, shops of the Muslims residents are destroyed but they will not leave them alone in this state of misery.
