New Delhi, May 30 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said there are 6,600 covid beds ready in the city currently and 9,500 more will be added by June 5.

Speaking to the media, he said at least 2,100 beds were arranged in the last one week with the rise in the Covid cases.

“Today, we have 6,600 beds of which 2,100 are occupied and the rest 4,500 remain vacant. We will have 9,500 beds for COVID-19 patients by June 5,” Kejriwal said.

The Chief Minister said Delhi is fully prepared to deal with coronavirus.

“There were 17,386 corona cases till Friday in Delhi, out of which 7,846 people have recovered and 9,142 are active cases, and there have been 398 deaths.”

He said there has been a surge in coronavirus cases in Delhi in the last few days and this is a matter of worry, but there is no need to panic.

“Being the Chief Minister of the people of Delhi, I want to assure you that we are four steps ahead of coronavirus, and we are making arrangements way more than what is required for Delhi to fight against the infection,” he said.

“We cannot remain in a permanent lockdown, no one can predict when Coronavirus will go away,” said Kejriwal.

“We have to learn to live with coronavirus and we have to arrange for everything required to deal with it. Our government is working for the treatment of the patients,” he added.
