Fast Food joints’ jingoistic marketing ploy over India’s LoC surgical strike

Burger Singh, the popular burger joint, tried to cash in on the wave of euphoria encompassing the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army across the LoC and failed miserably for its ‘insensitive’ approach. Grabbing the opportunity, it texted all its customers that ‘in light of the surgical strike by India defence forces’ they are offering a 20% discount on all orders. What more, they stepped up their jingoism by introducing a promotional code ‘fpak20’.
When contacted by Buzzfeed India, a spokesperson for the fast food joint said, “Why is it insensitive to celebrate action against terror? We are AGAINST terrorism and love our nation. It was never our intention to hurt, harm or otherwise prejudice anyone or their beliefs.”
The defiant spokesperson further added by saying, “As a response to all the love and hate coming our way across social platforms, we announce an increase in discount to 30% with the politically correct coupon code – strike30.”
Here’s how Twitterati reacted to the marketing ploy –

Milking every opportunity, Burger Singh?
