Former Chhattisgarh CM Ajit Jogi suffers cardiac arrest, condition critical

Former Chhattisgarh CM Ajit Jogi hospitalized, condition critical

The Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi suffered a cardiac arrest at home and is now on ventilator support, as stated by a hospital statement.

The  Shree Narayana  Hospital in Raipur said that he is in a critical condition.

Soon after, doctors were called and efforts were made to resuscitate him. Thereafter, he was moved to the hospital at 12:30 pm. He is said to have suffered a cardiac arrest.

According to the medical bulletin, the 74-year-old leader is on ventilator support as his breathing is still irregular. Doctors say his condition is “serious”

The hospital further said that as per the information gathered from his family, the wheelchair-bound politician was in his garden in the morning and had tamarind before the cardiac arrest.

His son, Amit Jogi, also described senior Jogi’s condition as serious.

Ajit Jogi, 74, leads the Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC), a party he founded after he was sacked from the Congress in 2016.

He is the first of only three men to have led Chhattisgarh as chief minister, serving between 2000 and 2003. His successor, Raman Singh of the BJP, held the post for 15 years before the incumbent, the Congress’s Bhupesh Baghel, took over in 2018.

Ajit Jogi, a bureaucrat-turned politician, had served as the first CM of Chhattisgarh from November 2000 to November 2003 in then Congress government, after the state came into existence.

He parted ways with the Congress in 2016 after he and his son got embroiled in a controversy over a by-election.
