Former Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh hospitalised in Gurugram after chest pain

Singh's name has been associated with banning Maoist organisations in 2005 under the Salwa Judum initiative. The move received support of opposition as well.

Former Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh hospitalised in Gurugram

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh was admitted to a hospital in Gurugram on Tuesday night after he complained of chest pain.

As per the reports, Singh felt severe chest pain following which he was immediately taken to the Medanta hospital in Gurugram. The cause of pain remains unknown as the doctors are examining Raman.

Singh was  first elected to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1990 and 1993 and later became a member of the 13th Lok Sabha from the Rajnandgaon constituency in Chhattisgarh. In the NDA government, Singh became the Union minister of state for commerce and industry from 1999 to 2003. He was also president of the BJP in the new state of Chhattisgarh and led the party to a victory in the 2003 assembly elections.

Singh’s name has been associated with banning Maoist organisations in 2005 under the Salwa Judum initiative. The move received the support of the opposition as well.
