Former Bharatiya Janata Party Delhi President, MLA and senior Sangh Associate Mange Ram Garg passed away at Balaji Action Hospital at about 7.30 AM on Sunday. Garg had not been keeping good health in recent years and was reportedly undergoing treatment for age-related ailments.

A confectioner by profession, Garg had joined active politics comparatively late but had taken massive strides in the ensuing years. He registered his first political win of note back in 2003 when he won from the Wazirpur assembly constituency.

Mange Ram had pledged his organ to the Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti for which his body will be taken to a hospital at 1 pm.

Delhi was also shocked by the death of three-time Delhi Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit died on Saturday. She was 81 and had been ill for a long time. She was admitted at around 10.30 am yesterday and died at 3.55 pm at a city hospital. She served as Delhi’s chief minister for 15 years from 1998-2013.

The Delhi government announced two-day state mourning for former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, who died on Saturday, and also to accord her a state funeral.
