A 22-year-old man identified as Rohit Kumar was stabbed five-times by his own friend on Independence Day this Wednesday, in the northeast part of Delhi, Jyoti Nagar. While the victim is still battling for his life, two have been booked by Delhi police in the matter.

As per the police reports, victim Rohit was flying kite with his family on Wednesday. Since he ran out of kite thread, he went to his friend Nitin to borrow some but irked Nitin, pushed Kumar towards the grilles on the terrace. Losing the temper further, Nitin asked two other friends to get a knife, using which he stabbed Rohit five times.

DCP (northeast) Atul Kumar Thakur said that a case was registered and a team was formed. He said that after several raids were conducted by the team, two of the accused — Nitin and Monti (28) — were arrested. He added that the third accused is presently absconding and and the team is trying to nab him.

Police said that CCTV footage from the spot is also being scanned.
