Atishi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) East Delhi candidate for the Lok Sabha elections 2019, broke down during a press conference on Thursday, May 9, as the party accuses Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Gautam Gambhir of circulating a derogatory pamphlet ahead of the polling on Sunday, May 12.
“I have only one question for Gautam Gambhir. If he is doing this against one woman, what about the lakhs of women in east Delhi who are worried about their safety,” Atishi said while addressing media.
“You want to be elected by distributing these handbills against me and Atishi? Shame on you Mr Gambhir! People of East Delhi know me and Atishi very well but through these handbills you have introduced yourself. This is your character,” Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tweeted, adding the picture of the pamphlet filled with derogatory remarks.

AAP Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister said, “Never imagined Gautam Gambhir to stoop so low. How can women expect safety if people wid such mentality are voted in?”
“Atishi, stay strong. I can imagine how difficult it must be for u. It is precisely this kind of forces we have to fight against,” the Delhi CM further added.

Replying to allegations, cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir said, he “abhor” the Delhi Chief Minister’s “act of outraging a woman’s modesty”, he further went on say, “u(you) are filth Mr CM and someone needs ur(your) very own jhadu (broom) to clean ur(your) dirty mind.”

Gambhir challenged the AAP convenor and his rival in East Delhi – Atishi, declaring that “if its proven that I did it, I will withdraw my candidature right now. If not, will you quit politics?”
