In an appalling incident, a 23-year-old “Tik Tok star” was arrested for the murder of a 19-year-old woman, Ghaziabad Police said on Monday.

The accused, Sheru Khan, a resident of Delhi, stabbed Naina to death in a Ghaziabad market on June 17, allegedly for refusing to marry him, police said. The police have arrested six persons in connection with the case.

“The crime was carried out by Sheru Khan and his accomplices on Wednesday. Three of his aides were arrested within 24 hours and a search was on for the other accused. On Monday, we arrested the main accused and two of his relatives who had given him shelter while he was absconding. The accused was carrying a reward of Rs 20,000,” said Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police Kalanidhi Naithani.

As per media reports, the victim’s family told police that Naina, along with her father Baldev Singh and Neelam, had gone to a market in Tila Mor area when some masked men approached her. An argument ensued, which soon turned violent and the accused assaulted the woman.

As her parents intervened, one of the accused tried to keep them off while another stabbed Naina multiple times. The accused then fled on a two-wheeler while Naina was declared brought dead at a hospital, police said.

“We found that Sheru and Naina had possibly become acquaintances on social media a couple of years ago. It appears that Sheru could not accept the fact that Naina was going to marry another person. In fact, his intention to kill her was Plan B as he hoped that he would convince her to elope with him. As Naina refused, he stabbed her”, said Keshav Kumar, Circle Officer, Sahibabad.

Naina was pursuing a nursing course and was residing with her family in Vivek Vihar Colony.  She was to get married on June 20, police said. Accused Asif (22) and Amir (20) allegedly helped Sheru in carrying out the murder and its conspiracy and were the first ones to be arrested.

However, with over four lakh followers and 40 lakh ‘likes’ for his videos, Sheru was a popular TikTok content creator.
