Google Doodle Celebrates Nowruz 2024: In honor of “International Nowruz Day 2024,” Google invited Iranian guest artist Pendar Yousefi to make a Google Doodle that captured the spirit of the holidays he celebrated as a child.

Also called the Persian or Iranian New Year, Nowruz literally means “new day” in Farsi. In most places of the world, it happens between March 19th and March 21st. It marks the start of the Iranian solar year, which is called the Hijri calendar. Nowruz is a Zoroastrian holiday that marks the beginning of the Iranian new year.

Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are just a few of the countries that celebrated festivals along the Silk Roads.
