Minister for medical education, Ashutosh Tandon has said that Baba Raghav Das Medical College (BRD) principal was suspended with an immediate effect on Saturday after 63 kids were killed due to shortage of oxygen.
“BRD medical college principal has been suspended with immediate effect for the negligent behaviour,” Tandon was quoted as saying by ANI.
“Wrote my resignation prior to that (suspension) taking responsibility of death of innocent children,” said Suspended Principal, BRD medical college.

He also confirmed that a high-level investigation will take place, which will be led by principal secretary.
In the tragic incident, 63 children were killed in Gorakhpur’s BRD Hospital in past five days due to the shortage of oxygen. Soon after the incident, several political leaders have reacted and even went on to demand the resignation of chief minister, Yogi Adityanath.
The incident happened in a case of negligence on part of the hospital to ensure smooth supply of oxygen for the patients. The opposition parties on Saturday demanded resignations of CM Adityanath and state health minister, Siddharth Nath Singh.
