In Ramol, a municipality in Ahmedabad district, a youth was brutally attacked by cow vigilantes when he was seen carrying calves. Reports say that the 23-year-old, Zaheer Abdul Sheikh was taken to the hospital and has sustained a deep stab wound. The incident took place at 12:30 am on Sunday.
Zaheer was travelling in a tempo, along with eight buffaloes from Deesa to Bhuj. Midway, a group of four started hitting the vehicle with sticks, while on 2 motorcycles.

The four asked Mustafa(the driver of the tempo) aged 53, to stop over, quoting themselves to be gau rakshaks. The driver stopped his vehicle nearby a police station, running into a restaurant where some police personnel were having dinner. Apparently, Zaheer ran in the other direction, after which he was chased and stabbed by two of the bikers.
As quoted by Ahmedabad Mirror, DCP said, “We have CCTV footage and have rounded up suspicious persons for identification”.
A case has been registered under Section 326(Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the IPC.
