Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna will celebrate his 47th birthday on March 27. Best known for his stint in films like ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, the actor has received two Filmfare Awards in his film career.
Born to veteran actor late Vinod Khanna and Geetanjali Khanna, he made his Bollywood debut in his father’s film Himalaya Putra (1997).
On the occasion of Akshaye Khanna’s 47th birthday, here are some lesser-known facts about the actor:
- After studying in Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute in Mumbai, he made his acting debut in Bollywood in 1997 with the film Himalay Putra.
- His next release Border (1997) emerged as a critical and commercial success, earning him the Filmfare Best Debut Award and a nomination for Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
- Khanna rose to prominence with starring roles in the musical romantic drama Taal (1999), the comedy drama Dil Chahta Hai (2001) which won him a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
- The actor went on to do the romantic thriller Humraaz (2002) for which he was nominated in the Best Negative Role category, the romantic comedies Hungama (2003) and Hulchul (2004), the murder mystery 36 China Town (2006).
- In 2009, he won the Screen Awards Best Villain for his work in the film Race, which was the fourth highest grossing Bollywood film of the year.
- Khanna’s role in Gandhi My Father (2007) is unanimously considered his best performance till date.
- He took a four-year-long sabbatical from acting and later made a comeback with Dishoom.
