Raksha Bandhan, one of the most auspicious festivals of Hindu in India will be celebrated on August 3. The festival falls in the holy month of Shravan or Sawan, according to the Hindu Calendar.

The festival of Rakhi celebrates the affectionate bond between siblings. On this day, sisters tie ‘Rakhi’, also known as Raksha Dhaaga on the wrist of brothers who in return promise to protect their sisters.

Food is a major part of festivals, especially in India. During festivals, the dining table remains splattered with delicious and flavoursome dishes. While some do binge eating, some are health conscious and skeptical to put on some extra calories.

We have brought to you top 3 guilt-free recipes for Raksha Bandhan to satisfy your taste buds without worrying about calories:

Baked Almond Kofta:

Ingredients:

  • Potato, boiled and mashed – 2 cups
  • Nutmeg – A pinch
  • Milk – 2 tbsp
  • Almonds crushed –3/4 cup
  • Green onions, chopped –1/2 cup
  • Refined flour – 1 tbsp
  • Egg – 1 no
  • Salt –3/4tsp
  • Pepper –1/2tsp
  • Eggs –2
  • Refined flour
  • Dry breadcrumbs

Preparation:

  • Place the mashed potato in a bowl and add almonds, salt, pepper, nutmeg, milk, green onions, flour, and 2 eggs.
  • Mix them well and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  • Now roll them into equal-sized koftas.
  • Place flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs separately in different plates.
  • Cover each kofta with flour and dunk them in beaten eggs. After which give them a good roll in the breadcrumbs.
  • Preheat an oven to 200c and bake the koftas till golden brown.
  • Serve hot.

Tandoori Gobhi:

Ingredients:

  • Cauliflower Florets (medium)-2 cups
  • Greek Yoghurt-1 cup {Vegans can use Dairy Free Yoghurt}
  • Crushed Ginger-2 tsp
  • Crushed Garlic-2 tsp
  • Garam Masala-1 1/2 tsp
  • Red Chili/paprika-1 tsp
  • Turmeric-1/2 tsp
  • Lemon Juice-2 tbsp
  • Oil-1 tbsp
  • Salt-to taste
  • Chat Masala (optional)

Preparations:

  • In a ziplock bag mix all the ingredients and let it marinate for about 2-3 hours in the fridge.
  • Place the florets on a foil-lined baking sheet and broil on low for about 20 mins (turning once in between) until all golden and cooked!
  • Arrange on a platter on some onions and lemon wedges and sprinkle some chat masala all over.

Multi-grain Sev Puri:

Ingredients:

  • 10 Pieces Papdis
  • 40 Gram Agra sev
  • 1 Medium Potato
  • 1 Avocado
  • 50 Gram Beans sprout
  • 1 Medium Onion
  • 1 Medium Tomato
  • 10 Gram Coriander
  • 1 Green chilli
  • 1 Tbsp Mint sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Tamarind sauce

Preparations:

  • Arrange the papdi on a plate top it up with boiled potatoes.
  • Add chopped onion tomatoes and coriander, green chilly with muddled avocado.
  • Arrange the avocado mixture on top of potatoes.
  • Place spiced beans sprout on avocado mixture.
  • Drizzle mint and tamarind chutney on spiced beans sprout.
  • Garnish with agra sev and dried cranberries.
