Happy Saraswati Puja 2022: The festival of Basant Panchami is being celebrated across the country to honor Maa Saraswati the goddess of knowledge, music, art, science and literature.
Basant means spring and Panchami is the fifth day of the spring season.
As per religious beliefs, worshiping the Goddess brings enlightenment of knowledge, gets us rid of lethargy, sluggishness and slumber.
On this day, women wear traditional yellow saree while children take part in cultural programs and families share prasad.
Some schools and colleges hold Puja on basant Panchami. Clay idols of the Maa Saraswati with moon crescent, riding a swan or seated on a lotus are brought home.
Flowers, fruits and sweets are placed near Puja Pandal. Customary khichdi (a mixture of rice and lentils) is the traditional prasad for Saraswati Puja.
