On July 17 of this year, the auspicious occasion of Hariyali Amavasya will be celebrated with great zeal and merriment. According to the Drik Panchang, the Amavasya tithi will begin on July 16, 2023 at 6:38 pm and end on July 17, 2023 at 8:31 am.

Observed during the sacred month of Sawan, Hariyali Amavasya is of great significance. It typically occurs three days before the celebrated Hariyali Teej festival.

Special darshans and aartis are organised for devotees to seek the deity’s blessings at temples throughout India, particularly in the north.

Hariyali Amavasya coincides with Ashadha Amavasya according to the Drik Panchang in Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu, where the Amanta Lunar Calendar is observed.

HARIYALI AMAVASYA 2023: RITUALS

On Hariyali Amavasya, devotees pray to Lord Shiva for a long, healthy, and happy life.

Early in the morning, devotees rise, bathe, and don clean clothing. They then perform petra puja and serve Brahmins and those in need special meals prepared at home.

People also express gratitude to Lord Shiva for a bountiful produce and an abundance of precipitation. In certain regions of the nation, devotees observe a day-long fast and only break it after performing all puja rituals.
