In a strategic move to uplift the OBC community and ahead of the looming state elections, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced on Sunday an increase in the annual income limit for the creamy layer from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh, projecting substantial benefits in employment opportunities.
Addressing a gathering at the ‘OBC Morcha Sarv Samaj Samrasta Sammelan’ in Gurugram, Saini revealed the state’s resolve to align its reservations in Group-A and Group-B posts with the Central government’s policy, escalating the current 15 percent quota to 27 percent. The chief minister also assured that the backlog of vacancies in these categories would be addressed through a robust special recruitment drive.
Saini emphasized the government’s commitment to the OBC community, detailing initiatives like scholarships ranging from Rs 12,000 to Rs 20,000 for OBC students’ education and ongoing focus on skill development. The announcements were framed as part of a larger effort to secure the welfare and progress of the OBC population in Haryana.
