Indian Travellers Holiday Spending: This summer more and more people in India are taking trips that are not only fun but also well-planned with money in mind. Families, business groups, and even wedding parties are heading to different places, but they want travel that is easy, relaxing, and worth the cost. Hotels and resorts have noticed that guests are now choosing packages that include everything from food to activities so they don’t have to spend extra later or worry about details.

Many travellers this season are choosing to stay within the country. There are also many MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) groups traveling right now. According to CNBC TV18 Hari SuKumar, Vice President Operations at Jaypee Hotels and Resorts, shared that, “Summer travels are mostly domestic travellers and MICE groups. This summer, we have a few weddings as well, thanks to the well-spread ‘saya’ dates between April, May, and June.”

More people are now being very careful about how they spend on travel. They are not spending randomly at different places. Instead, they want to book everything in one go. This way they know exactly how much money they will need for the full trip.

SuKumar also mentioned, “There has been a shift in the luxury segment. Guests are asking for inclusive summer packages.” This doesn’t mean travellers are spending less or being cheap. It simply means they are planning their trips in a smarter way so they can enjoy more without overspending.

At voco Jim Corbett, Suprabhath Roy Chowdhury, the General Manager, is also seeing the same pattern. He said, “Hotel packages with curated experiences are seeing many takers where guests don’t have to worry about planning details or be bothered about the additional costs associated with them.” This shows that people want simple and stress-free vacations where everything is already taken care of before they arrive.

Another new change is the rise of something called ‘bleisure’. This means mixing business with leisure. Many people are now joining office work trips with holidays. So, they attend meetings and also relax with their family at the same place. Roy Chowdhury explained, “A number of corporates are looking at their annual strategy meets at locations like Jim Corbett. Teams can unwind while having a productive boardroom meeting.”

Hotels and resorts are also seeing that people now care more about the environment when choosing where to stay. Guests are happy to book places that follow eco-friendly practices.

Roy Chowdhury said, “Basic sustainability measures like in-house bottling and no single-use plastics have become a differentiator for many corporates choosing offsite locations.” This means travellers are more likely to choose resorts that help protect nature and reduce waste.

People are also spending more on wellness and peaceful experiences. They want private and meaningful stays instead of only fancy rooms. At Aahana Resort, Avni Tripathi said that guests are loving the private pool villas and the chance to feel close to nature.

“Guests are drawn to experiences that pair the privacy of our pool villas with genuine connections to the forest around us,” she said. She also shared that more guests are staying longer than they did last year, and occupancy has clearly gone up.

At the same time, places like Six Senses Fort Barwara are seeing big celebrations becoming more popular. Rajat Gera, the Commercial Director, talked about how more guests are booking luxury stays that offer everything in one package.

“There is a growing demand for luxury celebrations and property buyouts,” he said. “Guests are opting for all-inclusive offerings that include meals, experiences, and exclusive access to venues, making it a seamless and elevated celebration.”
