IndiGo Bans Passenger for In-Flight Slap:On an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Kolkata, Hossain Ahmed Mazumdar, 32, gym buff from Assam apparently lost his cool and had a panic attack while the plane was taxiing. Some video started making the rounds online, and it’s wild: Mazumdar’s getting walked down the aisle by the crew, clearly shaken, and outta nowhere, some fellow passenger just walks up and slaps him. The whole cabin basically went into a collective gasp.

Within a day, the guy who dished out the slap got banned from IndiGo flights. They called it “unruly behaviour” and reported him to the higher authorities. Apparently, this lines up with all the DGCA rules and that internal list airlines keep for, you know, people who go rogue at 30,000 feet.

Victim Reported Missing

Mazumdar, the guy with the panic attack was actually flying home to Silchar, connecting through Kolkata. After that slap, he never got on his next flight. He just vanished. Seriously, his family’s been calling, texting, and trying to find him. They’ve filed a missing person report and, honestly, they’re demanding answers from anyone who’ll listen.

The slapper didn’t get to just walk away, though. Once they landed in Kolkata, airport security (CISF) scooped him up and handed him to the cops. He told them he “felt uneasy” because Mazumdar was close to him and just reacted. Impulsive, sure. They let him off with a warning, which doesn’t feel like enough, but that’s the system for you.

What’s really nuts about all this is just how unprepared airlines still are for mental health stuff. Panic attacks aren’t exactly rare, and yet, the first response this guy gets is a slap from a stranger? That’s not first aid, that’s just assault. Experts are out here saying the obvious: crews need better training, more empathy, less knee-jerk discipline.

IndiGo did what they’re supposed to. DGCA calls any physical assault “Level 2 unruly” think temporary ban, up to six months. After an internal review, airlines can blacklist you, and other carriers can join in if they feel like it. Not mandatory, though, which is kind of a loophole if you ask me.

Flying isn’t just about engines and safety checks. It’s about people minds as well as bodies. IndiGo moved quick with the slap-happy passenger, but Mazumdar’s disappearance? That’s the real nightmare here. Until we see some real change better support, more understanding, actual compassion this kind of mess will keep happening.
