Indore, the economic capital of Madhya Pradesh is considered as the backbone of state’s economy, however, there is hidden fact about the city that, Indore loves Cricket and apart from that, biggest evidence of the cricket’s enthusiasm is the 35 ft statue of the 2011 World Cup trophy.

Following the massive victory of India in 2011 World Cup after defeating Sri Lanka during the final match, a giant statue was made to honour the Indian cricket team.

Indore Development Authority (IDA) made the plan to construct the statue in 2013 and got unveiled in 2014.

The trophy is 30 ft tall and stands on a 5 ft pedestal.  The statue is located at the Pipliyahana Square of Indore and is prepared of an iron skeleton completely overlaid with fiber. Sculptors including Mahendra Kodwani and Ajay Punyasi from Indore crafted the statue.
