Day of International Women of Color Histories

International Women of Color Day is observed through the organization of several events, one of which is the Girls of Color and Outstanding Women of Color Awards, which honor women of diverse backgrounds. This day also honors men, women, and interest groups that actively oppose prejudice and discrimination on behalf of women of color in their daily lives.
N.I.W.C., or the National Institute for Women of Color, was founded to protect the liberties of women of color and assist them in constructing a supportive structure. Suzanne Brooks, C.E.O. of the International Association for Women of Color Day, was an eleven-year employee of the N.I.W.C. who contributed to its expansion. The primary proponents of this endeavor were graduate and undergraduate students hailing from Washington State University.
Sacramento has hosted the Annual Community Women of Color Day, also referred to as the Diversity Event, since 1991. This event is conducted annually on the first Sunday of March. In addition to hosting small exhibitions, it attracts local vendors. Additionally, with the assistance of charitable organizations and advertisers, they can raise funds to assist women in need. Northern California women have been honored with over 250 Outstanding Women and Girls of Color distinctions over the years. It is appreciated that small business proprietors, organizations, men, women, and all others contribute to making the world an equal place.
