iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 Series Drive: This year, Apple reportedly experienced a significant increase in sales in India. According to a CyberMedia Research report (via), the company’s iPhone shipments in India increased by up to 70% year-over-year in the second quarter of 2023. During the quarter, shipments of the company’s iPad lineup also increased.

The most recent iPhone 14 series models and the iPhone 13 series models from the previous generation were significant contributors to Apple’s year-over-year growth in India. The much older iPhone 11 series and iPhone 12 series also helped Apple increase its market share in India’s premium smartphone segment.

“During the second quarter of 2023, Apple experienced robust growth in India. According to Menka Kumari, Analyst – Industry Intelligence Group (IIG) at CMR, “iPhone shipments increased by 70 percent year-over-year, with the iPhone 14 series and iPhone 13 series driving a significant portion of the growth.”

During the quarter, the iPhone 13 series was the most popular series in India. The iPhone 13 series had the highest market share (52%) among iPhones sold in India, according to the report. Online sales and minimal differences between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 series may have contributed to the iPhone 2021’s popularity with consumers.

The iPhone 14 series is quickly approaching. 45 percent of all iPhones shipped during the quarter belonged to the iPhone 14 series, per the CMR report. The 2019 introduction of the iPhone 11 series contributed approximately 2% to Apple’s quarterly growth in India. The iPhone 12 series of 2020 contributed 1% to Apple’s expansion in India.

Apple’s iPad lineup was also a popular option among consumers, according to CMR. According to the report, the 9th-generation iPad series held a market share of 42%, followed by the 10th-generation iPad series from the previous year, which held a market share of 22%. 18% and 16% market share were held by the iPad Air and iPad Pro series in 2022, respectively.

The research firm anticipates Apple’s robust growth momentum to continue throughout the second half of 2023. The iPhones could help Apple acquire approximately 7% of the smartphone market in India, while the iPad will have approximately 25% of the market.

The upcoming iPhone 15 series is rumoured to feature numerous improvements over the current models. It is expected that all four iPhones will feature a new 48MP primary camera. It is rumoured that the iPhone 15 series will abandon the notch in preference of pill-shaped and hole-punch cutouts for the Dynamic Island.
