Jharkhand: IPS Anurag Gupta suspended for allegedly working in favour of BJP during Rajya Sabha elections

He is accused of threatening former minister Yogendra Saw for voting in favour of BJP during the Rajya Sabha elections in the year 2016 while being ADG of Special Branch.

Jharkhand: IPS Anurag Gupta suspended for alleged working in favor of BJP during Rajya Sabha elections

Ranchi: Anurag Gupta, a 1990 batch IPS officer of Jharkhand cadre who was amidst controversy for making a mess in Rajya Sabha Elections has been suspended. The IPS officer is accused of working for the BJP.

The government has also taken strict action against IPS officer Anurag Gupta. Anurag Gupta is currently the ADG (Additional Director General) of CID.

He is accused of threatening former minister Yogendra Saw for voting in favour of BJP during the Rajya Sabha elections in the year 2016 while being ADG of Special Branch.

In this case, an FIR was also registered in Jagannathpur police station in 2018.

Ever since the formation of Hemant Soren’s Govt, it was being speculated that action on ADG Anurag Gupta remained uncertain. The department had sent the file related to the action to the government two days earlier. Anurag Gupta also says that he has not been asked any explanation and he is not aware of any official action.

It needs to be mentioned here that, on April 4 2019, The Election Commission of India has today ordered for the transfer of senior IPS officer of Jharkhand Police (Special branch) Anurag Gupta.

The election commission in its order addressed to the Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand has said that Anurag Gupta IPS shall be diverted from the present assignment forthwith.

The election commission has directed Gupta to report to the resident commissioner Jharkhand at New Delhi by Tuesday 1300hrs. The poll panel has also made it clear that he should not be allowed any leave and given duty which entails a visit to Jharkhand till the completion of the election process.
