Thupstan Chhewang, a Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) member of Parliament from Ladakh constituency of Jammu and Kashmir has announced his resignation from his party as well as from his Lok Sabha seat.

In a letter addressed to BJP State party President, Ravindra Raina, Mr Chhewang wrote, “I have to inform you that I am resigning from primary membership of the Bhartiya Janata Party on health grounds with immediate effect. I am also writing separately to the Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha resigning as M.P from Ladakh Parliamentary constituency.”

Though Chhewang cited “health reasons” for his resignation, reports quoting his dissatisfaction with the party are taken rounds.
