Karnataka Minister of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Forest Umesh Katti died after suffering from a massive cardiac arrest on late Tuesday evening here in the city’s private hospital, ,media reports claimed. He was 61.
According to the initial reports, the minister suffered a cardiac arrest around 10 pm on Tuesday evening. He was being treated in the ICU, where he reportedly breathed his last.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai expressed his condolence over his death and said, “Deeply saddened by the untimely demise of my close colleague Shri Umesh Katti, Minister of Forests. With his demise, the state has lost a skilled diplomat, active leader and loyal public servant. I pray that the Lord gives strength to his family to bear his loss. [sic]”

Umesh Katti was a six-term member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and represents Hukkeri assembly constituency.
