Kerala: Major landslide near Munnar, at least 80 tea estate workers feared trapped

It is reported that at least 80 tea estates workers are feared trapped in a major landslide at Rajamala near Munnar in Idukki district of Kerala.

Due to the heavy rains and flooding, the tragic incident took place Rajamala area in Munnar after a major landslide hit a labour camp in which at least 80 people are feared trapped.

There has been no official confirmation on the extent of the damage.

The police, fire department personnel, revenue and local media teams are reportedly on their way to Rajamala near Munnar.

Officials have said the area in Rajamala is hard to reach as it is a remote valley far away from the Munnar town.

The Shiva temple in Aluva submerged in water as the water level rises in Periyar River following incessant rains.
