Kerala: Wayanad man held for escaping home quarantine, another for spreading fake news of coronavirus

It is reported that he circulated fake news which said a patient at a private hospital in Kalpetta tested positive for COVID-19, on social media

A Wayanad man was held by police for escaping home quarantine directed by the health department in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak. Muttil native Muhammad Shafeeq returned from a foreign place and he was held for violating official order.

Shafeeq was caught leaving his home and violating the order of the district administration which warned strict action against those who evade home quarantine. After he evaded home quarantine, Kalpetta police arrested him. He was later released on station bail.

Another case from Pozhuthana surfaced, a local named native Fayadh was held for spreading fake news on coronavirus outbreak here.

It is reported that he circulated fake news which said a patient at a private hospital in Kalpetta tested positive for COVID-19, on social media.

Wayanad district administration has taken stern steps in strengthening precautionary measures to control the COVID-19 outbreak after Coorg district confirmed the first positive case. People in Mananthavady taluk often come in close contact with people from Coorg. Many people are engaged in coolie jobs in Coorg.

As Coorg reported the first case, Wayanad district authorities has imposed restrictions on crossing the check post.
