Legendary singer, Kishore Kumar, had made occasional visits to the United States for a few performances, but his legacy continues to live on in the country.

Anindo Bose, an NRI working as a business executive, was a kid when Kishore went for his concert in the US but his love for Kumar’s evergreen songs led him to remake them in the backdrop of New York.

“Kishore in New York is an ambitious project – thought the process was what it would have been if Kishore was in the US, speaking Hindi and had an opportunity to sing his legendary songs in today’s modern recording era,” Bose said.

Bose had firstly chosen songs like ‘O Hansini’ and ‘Jane Kya Sochkar nehi guzra’ , two evergreen hit numbers composed by Rahul Dev Burman.

O Hansini was shot in the heart of Times Square, Bryant Park and the historic Brooklyn Bridge. “We had to explain about who is Kishore Kumar at times while seeking permission. At times, we hired a cameraman who already has a permission,” Bose said.

The fan admits that imitating Kishore Kumar is next to impossible and that his songs can never be re-made. But he wanted to pay his tribute to the “greatest playback singer India has produced till date” in the most unique way.

“I always thought how could I keep his legacy going in my own small way,” he added.
