Maintain A Strict Fast

On the day of Krishna Janmashtami, devotees must observe a 24-hour dietary fast. It is a waterless fast, or Nirjala, that is observed on the birthday of Lord Krishna.

Establish a Sankalpa or Vow and Keep It

Create a sankalp or take a vow with a purified heart and one that you are capable of fulfilling. Then you must persist until completion.

Consume a nutritious meal before fasting

Since the fast on Krishna Janmashtami lasts for an entire day, you must consume a pre-fasting meal in order to receive adequate nutrition. It might include fresh fruits and vegetables.

Remain tranquil

On this day, it is essential to consume only sattvik foods during the pre-fasting meal. On this day, even if someone is not fasting, they must abstain from all tamasic foods and avoid onions and garlic.

Special Foods for the Lord Krishna

Lord Krishna enjoys milk and milk products such as butter, ghee, yoghurt, and paneer tremendously.

Therefore, when creating something unique for him, you must bear the following in mind. Additionally, you must incorporate them into your sattvik diet.

Prepare An Extraordinary Prasad

In addition to Panchamrit and homemade butter, you can also prepare Panjiri, Seedai, Peda, Gajak, and kheer for Lord Krishna.

Avoid Non-Vegetarian/Tamasic Foods

On this day, you must abstain from eating nonvegetarian and tamasic foods, as well as garlic and scallions. Additionally, you must avoid wheat, cereals, and rice.

Do Not Break Your Fast Early

If you choose to observe a fast or vrat on this day, do so with the utmost commitment and resist the temptation to consume any sustenance.

This is considered a very essential part of the day.
