Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has accused the opposition of creating confusion among people over the Supreme Court’s observation on the creamy layer among SCs and STs, asserting that the Constitution given by B.R. Ambedkar has no such provision.
In an interview, Meghwal stated that the BJP-led NDA government will uphold Ambedkar’s Constitution and continue the reservation system for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes as stipulated. He criticized the opposition for exploiting public confusion, despite understanding the court’s stance.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, held a detailed discussion on the Supreme Court judgement regarding the sub-categorization of SCs and STs. The government reiterated its firm commitment to the Constitution’s provisions.
