Lok Sabha 2019: Incumbent MP Chaudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser declared as LJP candidate for Khagaria

Khagaria: After days of speculation, incumbent Member of Parliament from Khagaria constituency, Mehboob Ali Kaiser is set to contest Lok Sabha elections from the seat on Lok Jan Shakti (LJP) party ticket.

On Sunday, Kaiser had met party chief Ram Vilas Paswan and LJP parliamentary board chairman Chirag Paswan.

Before winning the Lok Sabha elections 2014 from Khagaria, Kaiser was a three-time Member of Vidhan Sabha from Simri Bakhtiarpur constituency.

After being denied ticket by Indian National Congress for general election 2014, he joined Lok Janshakti Party days before 2014 general election and successfully contested from Khagaria constituency. Kaiser had won the 2014 elections here by more than 89 thousand votes against Krishna Yadav of RJD.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) comprising of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal United (JDU) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) had earlier announced its seat-sharing formula of 17-17-6.

The alliance had announced candidates for 39 Lok Sabha constituency, while the name for Khagaria constituency remained to be announced, a seat that is among 6 to be contested by Lok Janshakti Party.
