Madhya Pradesh: Man held for duping Amazon of Rs 30 lakh by claiming refunds

MADHYA PRADESH: Man held for duping Amazon of Rs 30 lakh by claiming refunds

INDORE: A 27-year-old man was arrested for duping e-commerce company Amazon for 30 Lakh Rs in Indore.

A sub police inspector told that there might be a role of some suspected Amazon employees in the duping case and the investigation to which is underway.

Mohammed Mahuwala, the accused, was arrested after Amazon filed a complaint against him, state’s cyber cell superintendent of police (SP) Jitendra Singh told.

The accused is reported to be the member of the gang who made many accounts Amazon with fake email ids and phone numbers. They used to order expensive mobile phones and gadgets of big companies through these accounts. After receiving the order they used to claim a refund on the company by saying that the box they received was empty. They sold the gadgets and mobile phones at a cheaper price in the nearby market, the police told.

According to the investigation, it was revealed that around 50 gadgets including expensive mobile phones were ordered that cost around Rs 30 Lakh and gathered refund by fraud for them.

The SP said that two expensive branded mobile phones, a wireless router, a headphone, two smartwatches and a credit card were also recovered from the accused. The detail investigation and search for the other gang members is underway.
