What is Microsoft Teams?

Microsoft Teams is a unified communication center that provides businesses and organizations with a more effective way to communicate and collaborate, while minimizing misunderstandings and productivity errors.

Procedure to create a meeting in Microsoft Teams

You need to select the team and channel that you want to make a call in and tap the ‘Meet Now’ video call icon which is located at the bottom of the page before the three-dotted icon.

You can also choose to initiate a video call in an existing conversation by clicking Reply, and then selecting the video call option. This will allow you to follow up on existing themes.

After clicking the video call icon, you will be able to turn the camera on or off, schedule a meeting or have a meeting immediately. The screen will show how you appear in the call.

Feature: Meet now

The ‘Meet now’ feature allows you to begin the meeting right away and is usually used for ad hoc meetings.

How to Schedule a meeting?

If you click on “Schedule a meeting” directly below the “Meet Now” option on the screen, you can set up a meeting on the calendar for future dates and choose call scheduling.

To schedule a meeting, select “Schedule a meeting” and then click “Calendar”. Now you must click on ‘New Meeting’ and select a time range in the calendar to open the schedule.

The schedule allows you to name the meeting, invite people and add meeting details.

After setting the date and time by clicking “Add Required Participants” and entering their email addresses, you can add participants. After setting, click “Save”, this will send the invitation to everyone’s Outlook inbox.

Creating chat calls in MS Teams

In addition to channel calls, you can also make chat calls. When chatting in Microsoft Teams, the application provides two options. These are one-to-one and group calls. They are all private calls and will not appear in your channel conversation.

To start a call using the chat feature, you must navigate to the chat list and tap “New Chat” to start a new conversation. All you need to do is type the name of the person you want to call in the ‘To’ field.

Next, you must select the “Video Call” or “Audio Call” option to start the conversation.
