Bihar CM may take call on Tejashwi Yadav’s resignation today

All ministers in Bihar are crorepatis except Sugarcane industry minister Firoz Alam, who owns only Rs 3,100 in cash, as per the details of assets declared.

However, Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar is poorer than his son, Nishant, and deputy chief minister of the state, Tejaswi Yadav.

In 2010, Nitish Kumar had made it mandatory for himself and his ministers to declare their assets annually.

According to the details, movable and immovable assets declared by the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues for 2016, Nitish Kumar has movable assets worth about Rs 19 lakh and immovable assets in the form of a flat in Delhi valued at Rs 40 lakh.

Kumar’s assets also comprise cash worth Rs 40,566. In bank deposits, Nitish has a little over Rs 61,000 from three accounts.

In contrast to his assets, Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant has movable assets worth Rs 94 lakh and immovable assets to the tune of Rs 1.2 crore, comprising a house in Patna and in his native village Kalyan Bigaha in Nalanda district. Nishant has Rs 7,034 in cash.

Deputy chief minister, Tejaswi Yadav, however, has no vehicle but a number of land plots. He has major plots of land plots in Danapur and Phulwari Sharif areas, near Patna. He also has land in Gardanibagh area of the state capital.

But, his elder brother and Bihar’s health minister Tej Pratap Yadav has a motorcycle worth Rs 15 lakh, a car worth Rs 29 lakh and bank deposits of Rs 3 lakh. He also has land in Danapur and Phulwari Sharif areas.

Except the sugarcane minister, all Bihar ministers are crorepatis if the value of their movable and immovable assets are assessed as per market value.

At least half a dozen ministers have licensed weapons. State education minister and Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Kumar Choudhary has over 1 kg of gold jewellery. Choudhary has a Toyota Altis (2015) car worth Rs 16 lakh and a Scorpio.

Sugarcane industry minister Khurshid alias Firoz Alam carries only Rs 3,100 in cash, as per the declaration.

Industry and science and technology minister Jai Kumar Singh has two SUVs – a Scorpio and a Fortuner – worth Rs 25,57,680. Besides significant assets, Singh owns a .32 bore revolver and a rifle.
