Addressing a rally at Banswara, Rajasthan, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of ignoring the farmers’ issues. He said “Today, we wanted to raise farmers’issues in Lok Sabha. PM Modi was present and other Ministers were also present. We were not allowed to speak about it.”

“The Parliament is opened at 12 in the night for GST, but we are not even given a minute to talk about farmers’ issues,” he added.
Addressing a farmers’rally, he said Congress waived off farmers’ loans in Punjab and Karnataka, following which BJP got scared and took a similar step in UP. “Like UP, Congress will pressurise BJP to do the same for farmers of Rajasthan,” he added. Gandhi further said that during his election campaign in 2014, PM Modi had promised to help farmers but has not fulfilled it.

Speaking on GST, Congress vice president said that PM Modi has unleashed the entire tax department over people’s head. “We had suggested the government to not pass GST in a hurry, but they did not listen,” he said. “Big traders have no issues with this GST, they can employ 10 accountants and fill as many forms as required. It is the small traders who suffer,” he added.

Rahul is also scheduled to hold rallies in other BJP-ruled states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. BJP chief Amit Shah is also scheduled to visit the state later this week.
