Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh has five constituencies among which Congress is on three seats while Bharatiya Janata Party holds control on two seats. Shivpuri Assembly is considered as a stronghold of BJP. For the last four consecutive terms, BJP MLAs are elected from this constituency. However, this time a third party is expected to start contesting elections from here. Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party is all set to add challenges to Congress in this constituency.

Yashodhara Raje has been elected MLA and minister twice from this seat and has a political dominance in the area. According to sources, former Shivpuri MLA Virendra Raghuvansi is expected to contest from Kolaras on the tickets of common man.

In a recent protest against SC/ST Act in Kolaras, while addressing people, he had hinted and said, the Aam Aadmi Party is running its government in the country’s capital from where the government of 29 states is operated.
