As per the official sources, as many as 22 people suddenly fell unconscious as froth oozed from their mouths and they complained of giddiness in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district with cases being reported from villages like Pulla and Komirepalli.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister (Health) A K K Srinivas, who visited Poolla in West Godavari district, suspected there could be a “conspiracy” behind it. “We are thinking if there is a conspiracy. We have this suspicion, going by what the people here said. So, we can’t rule that out. But we can’t confirm that as well,” Srinivas told a regional news channel.
“Six of these patients have been discharged after treatment while 15 were admitted to the District Hospital in Eluru. Another person was getting treated in the local hospital in Poolla mandal headquarters,” a senior official said.
As of 20th January, as many as 23 cases have been discharged until now, even as nearly 100 hospital beds have been arranged at Pulla, Bhimadolu, and Eluru. The district administration deputed three general physicians, 17 PHC doctors, 10 ANMs, and 30 Asha’s workers at that time.
