National Women Physicians Day 2024 (US): February 3 marks the inaugural National Women Physicians Day. In observance of Elizabeth Blackwell’s birthday, this occasion honors the nation’s first female physician. It is time to recognize the advancements made by women physicians nationwide since the publication of Blackwell’s work. Although there are still fewer female physicians than male physicians on a national level, progress is constant. For the first time in history, medical school matriculated more than half of the female students in 2017.
