NITI Aayog announces reward schemes to encourage digital transactions

In a bid to promote electronic transactions, NITI Aayog has launched two schemes – Lucky Grahak Yojana and Digi Dhan Vyapari Yojana – involving a rewards programme entailing a spending of Rs 340 crore.

 NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said  “Lucky Grahak Yojana” or ‘Lucky Grahak Scheme” has been launched for consumers, whereas “Digi Dhan Vyapari Yojana” or “Digi Dhan Vyapari Scheme” has been launched by the government to encourage merchants to go for digital transactions.

 “Under Lucky Grahak Yojana the NPCI will announce 15,000 winners of 1000 rupees each for next 100 days, starting from Christmas,” said Amitabh Kant.

 NITI Aayog CEO said there will be 7000 weekly awards – maximum up to Rs 50,000 – for merchants, under the Digi Dhan Yojana.

 Here are the announcements.  

 NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said that the focus of “Lucky Grahak & Digi-Dhan Yojana” is of poor, middle class and small businesses so as to bring them into digital payments revolution.

“There has been a spurt in digital payments since demonetisation; digital payments can be pushed much more.”

Estimated expenditure of the scheme to incentivise digital payments will cost Rs 340 crore.

NPCI will announce 15,000 winners of 1000 rupees each for next 100 days, starting from Christmas.

The government will give 7000 weekly awards, maximum award of Rs. 50,000 each for merchants, under Digi Dhan Vyapari Yojna.

There will also be mega awards under the Lucky Grahak Yojana & Digi Dhan Vyapari Yojana which will be announced on 14th April.

For consumers opting for the digital transaction the mega awards will be Rs 1 crore, Rs 50 lakh and Rs 25 lakh under the Lucky Grahak Yojana.

For merchants opting for the digital transaction, the mega awards will be Rs 50 lakh, Rs 25 lakh and Rs 5 lakh under the Digi Dhan Vyapari Yojana.
