Over 1,190 Reserved Category Officers Appointed in IAS, IPS, and IFS Over Five Years

The Indian government has appointed 1,195 candidates from reserved and backward categories as IAS, IPS, and IFS officers over the past five years, according to information presented in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh revealed that the appointments included 233 officers in 2018, 231 in 2019, 223 in 2020, 250 in 2021, and 258 in 2022. Recruitment is conducted through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) following relevant rules.

As per existing instructions, reservations are provided for Scheduled Castes (15 percent), Scheduled Tribes (7.5 percent), and Other Backward Classes (27 percent) in IAS, IPS, and IFS recruitment. The data shared indicates the year-wise and category-wise distribution of the newly appointed officers.
