Patna: Youth kills self on live Whatsapp video call after spat with girlfriend

A man in his early twenties in Patna shot himself to death inside a car while on live Whatsapp video call with his girlfriend. The incident took place at road number seven of Shri Krishna Nagar locality under Buddha Colony police station area.

Police said the matter came to light after locals heard a loud bang and later spotted a youth lying in a pool of blood on driving seat of a car parked roadside.

As reported, the deceased identified as 22-year-old Rupak, the son of a retired army jawan and a student of B.Sc., arrived at his girlfriend’s house in Sri Krishna Nagar on Sunday afternoon but left soon in his car. Near the S K Nagar Park, he pulled over by the side of the road, stuck a pistol to his head and pulled the trigger.

The SHO Ravishankar Kumar said Rupak was in relationship with the girl for the two years, but things had turned bitter in last ten days. Kumar further said a country-made semiautomatic pistol and Rupak’s cellphone were found lying on his lap.

“He shot himself in right temple and bullet existed from left side of his head. An empty cartridge was recovered from spot. The pistol was loaded with only one cartridge which got used. Police quizzed one of Rupak’s friends who said that he had a fight with his girlfriend around ten days back,” he said, adding police were yet to contact the girl to know further details.

Authorities were planning to interview the girlfriend who hails from Siwan. It is not clear how Rupak got his hands on a pistol since he did not have a criminal mindset or background. The deceased’s father is currently posted in Jharkhand as a SAP jawan while his older brother works is an engineer in a private company in Delhi.
