Rajasthan: Jat leader Rampal to go on hunger strike over farmers issues

The concern of farmers welfare has become a priority of the political parties in poll-bound Rajasthan. Following which, Rampal Jat an influential Jat leader of the state along with the support of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will go on a hunger strike from Tuesday over farmers’ issues. The statement was made by senior AAP leader and Rajysabha MP Sanjay Singh, during a media briefing in Delhi.

“Our senior leader Rampal Jat will be on indefinite hunger strike from October 23 if the government delays the purchase of farmer produce and denies to compensate their losses,” Singh told media.  Earlier, Rampal Jat has taken the membership of AAP.

According to the sources, Kisan Mahapanchayat will be supporting the movement and huge amount of farmers are expected to gather in the protest.

AAP promising enhancement of farmers, if voted to power, alleged that the current BJP and former Congress government are responsible for the difficulties faced by the farmers in the state.

Speaking on the lines of the agrarian community, AAP stated that “Our final manifesto will include relevant suggestions received on the released draft, to have a farmer head the task we ensure that interests of the farmers in the manifesto.”
